Face jugs, also called Ugly or Grotesque jugs, were first made in the United States in the 1700 and 1800s by slave potters in the South. Although the inspiration behind making face jugs is unknown, researchers speculate that the jugs may have had religious significance since they have been found in cemeteries. All items are hand-made by the Liberty Craftworks artisans in Greenfield Village. No two jugs will be the same. Available in three sizes: Small (9 1/2" h), Medium (12" h), Large (14 1/2" h).__SKU: 8500000209
