Rosie: We Can Do It! Sign
This now well-known J Howard Miller poster was commissioned in 1942 by the Westinghouse Company's War Production Coordinating Committee. Originally displayed only at Westinghouse factories, the poster was intended to discourage employee strikes and absences. Never was it expected to surface with impact years later as an icon of women’s empowerment.
Rosie is seen as competent, strong, determined, capable and empowered. Qualities that women have today. This sign is a beautiful reminder of that talent and power we all have. Yes ladies, we can do it!
