Architect and designer, Alissa Werres, suspended her desk job to become a maker. She opened a design studio focused on creating jewelry inspired by Architecture and Travel. She draws inspiration from designs and landmarks around the world through travels and studies, then transforms ideas into unique and beautiful laser-cut jewelry.
This wood shield beauty is inspired from the 1929 Guardian Building in Detroit whose distinguished Art Deco architecture is known globally to those in the field. Once promoted as the” Cathedral of Finance” (commissioned by the Union Guardian Trust Co.), its grandeur was a blend of craftsmanship—Native American, Aztec, Art & Craft with Italian Travertine Marble and Nubian Marble imported from Africa. The details are a sight to behold and never will this depiction of creativity be repeated. Today it is registered as a National Landmark by the National Park Service.
